Soggy...that pretty much sums up the last three days. The sun is attempting to shine today. There are parts of the Ozarks that have received as much as 10 inches of rain since Monday. No, this isn't an exaggeration, it is factual. The weather pattern has just absolutely pounded us since the New Year began. Springfield has received as much as 22" of rain since the first of January. That is NOT counting the snow or ice. We are saturated to say the least. The flooding is horrible, we are high enough on our road that our ditches caught it & ran down hill. We are very fortunate, very blessed. Some parts of our neighborhood are just standing in water. The ponds are over their capacity & the creeks are running with a wild, almost violent rage.
The positive aspect to this: the tiny, tell tale signs of spring are here! The flower beds are just bursting with sprouts of springtime bliss! The fields colored in hazy shades of green. Some of the trees are bursting with buds of promise. TODAY is the first official day of Spring. HOORAY!! Can't you just smell the sweet, welcoming scent of hyacinths? What about the daffodils that are so vivid in their yellow color? Or....the beautiful songs that greet us in the mornings now that the little birds are back celebrating the beauty of this incredible season! Whatever you are doing, wherever you are, may you enjoy all of the blessings of spring......
